Another fun skirt to make me super-girly: the full skirt. Full skirts have been trending and you can find them everywhere. Except of course, for the color I am always looking for. Growing up, I could never find exactly what I had envisioned in my mind, and I would always beg my mom to make it for me. Much to her chagrin, I also expected her to make do without a pattern (I really tested her limits, lol!)
What is the point of my little trip down memory lane? This skirt started as a dress, a thrift-store find I found months ago. I left it hanging in the laundry room, torn between it’s beauty and ugliness (seriously, it was most likely an atrocious bridesmaid dress, and I instantly felt pangs of sympathy for that poor girl (27 dresses anyone?) One day I was hit with desperation for a full skirt when it occurred to me to put the many skills (my mother had taught me) to work. I tore out (okay, gently seam-picked) the bodice and tacked it down (had to remove the boning) to the waistband and voila!
Sadly, I didn’t have the foresight to document the transformation from dress to skirt (sorry!) I have another thrifted dress (J Crew! Seriously, I think someone in the area must be a serial bridesmaid or something lol!) and I might try to document its’ transformation (I’m a clothing transformation monster now…..)
Stay tuned for tips on how to wear a full skirt, no matter what your waist size or body shape!
